BEFORE YOU BEGIN INSTALLATION
We recommend doing the following to help you install Tannus Airless Tires.

Remove from packaging and carefully stretch into a circle shape.

If possible, place in the sunlight or warm place to help with installation.

Remove the rim tape from your rim to give space for your new Tannus Airless Tire.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
STEP ONE: Select Your Correct Pin Size
Refer to our Pin Sizing Chart to select the right pin color for your rim. Typically, the pin size is about 3.5mm wider than the rim’s width.

STEP TWO: Pin insertion into tire
After choosing the correct pin size, insert the pins flat side up into the pin holes. Check the pin orientation carefully.

Insert pins into tire as shown below.

TIP
Gently stretch the tire for easier installation. Take caution not to overstretch the tire as this could damage tire and may influence performance.
STEP THREE: MOUNTING YOUR TANNUS TYRE
After inserting the pins properly, place the tyre onto the rim. Securing one or two pins into the rim will help hold the tyre in place and make mounting easier. Position the tyre so the pins are visible on only one side (see figure A).
Next, as shown in figure B, hold the tool at a 70 to 80 degree angle and press down firmly. If you hear a clicking sound or feel a vibration, it means the pin has been correctly inserted into the rim (see figure C).

TIP
If your rim is shallow, remove the rim tape before mounting the tyre to ensure there’s enough space for the new tyre to fit properly.
For deeper rims, you might want to keep the rim tape on. If you’ve already removed the tape and hear a ticking sound while riding, it could mean there’s too much space between the tyre and rim, causing the tyre to move around. In that case, remove the tyre, reinstall the rim tape, and mount the tyre again.
STEP FOUR: CHECKS AFTER INSTALLATION
A. Ensure all pins are fully inserted.
If any pins are still visible, repeat Step 3. Proper installation means no pins should be visible.
B. Check the tyre alignment.
Rotate the wheel and confirm that the centre line remains straight and evenly aligned, as shown in the figure below.

STEP FIVE: HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TANNUS TYRES
Dirt and stains can be removed by washing or wiping down the tyre.
For best results, use a dedicated tyre cleaner.

STEP SIX: HOW TO REMOVE TANNUS TYRES
Removing the tyres can be challenging, as they are designed to stay securely on the rim.
For safe and proper removal, it’s recommended to visit an authorised Tannus dealer.
Tannus airless tyre questions
Tannus Airless Tyres are made from a patented foam-like polymer called Aither. They are completely solid but ride like regular bike tyres.
You’ll never get a flat tyre again. No tubes, no air, no punctures.
No, Tannus Tyres are not inserts. They are full tyres that replace your existing ones.
You’ll keep your wheelset, but you won’t need the rim strip, tube, or original tyre. Want a wheelset with Tannus Tyres already installed? Click here.
Tannus tyres are lightweight, comfortable, and durable. Most riders notice little to no difference – except no flats and no need to check PSI.
Will they make me slower?
Most people don’t feel a difference, but some riders report being up to 10% slower.
They’re guaranteed to last at least 6,000km miles, often longer.
What’s the PSI?
These are solid tyres, so there’s no PSI. Instead, they come in three densities: Soft, Regular, and Hard.
Which hardness should I choose?
-
Under 120 lbs (55 kg): Soft
-
120–200 lbs (55–90 kg): Regular
-
Over 200 lbs (90+ kg): Hard
If your tyre size doesn’t offer hardness options, the standard compound works for most.
The weight varies by tyre size.
