TANNUS ARMOUR QUESTIONS
What is Tannus Armour?
Tannus Armour is a protective insert that fits between your tire and inner tube. Made from a patented foam-like polymer called Aither, it helps reduce punctures, absorb shocks, and improve ride comfort.
Why should I use Tannus Armour?
Without Armour, your tube is directly exposed to thorns, glass, and trail debris. Tannus Armour acts as a cushion, protecting both your inner tube and rim from damage caused by impacts or sharp objects.
What are the key specifications?
Tannus Armour weighs between 190g and 500g, depending on the size. It offers up to 15mm of top protection and 2–5mm of sidewall coverage, helping to guard against flats and rim dents.
Can I use it with a tubeless setup?
Tannus Armour is designed for use with inner tubes. If you’re running tubeless, we recommend using Tannus Armour Tubeless instead — it’s specifically engineered for those systems. You can find it on our product page.
Can I keep riding if I get a flat?
Yes, you can still ride a short distance if you get a puncture — the Armour offers enough structure to protect your rim for a few miles on smoother ground. However, avoid rocky or uneven terrain. This feature doesn’t apply to fat tire sizes like 20×3.0–4.0, 20×4.1–4.8, and 26×4.0–4.8.
What tire pressure should I use?
You can run lower PSI with Armour for a smoother ride and better grip. We suggest starting 5–10 PSI lower than your usual pressure and adjusting based on how the ride feels for you.
Will the Armour compress over time?
Yes, the material may compress slightly with regular use, especially at higher pressures. To maintain its thickness, use lower PSI when possible or deflate the tire during longer storage periods.
Can I use it on road bikes?
Absolutely. While originally made for MTB and gravel riding, Tannus Armour works well on commuter and road bikes too — offering improved puncture protection and a more comfortable ride.
